How to spot fake Golecha henna — the visual guide

Counterfeit Golecha henna exists. This guide shows you how to verify that what you’re buying is the real thing, and what to do if you’ve been sold a fake.

The 30-second check

Ask yourself three questions:

1. Where did I buy it? If the URL isn’t golechamagic.com or golechanaturals.com, it’s not from us. (See the authorized sellers list for the complete list.)
2. Does the packaging show a printed batch or lot number? Every authentic Golecha product carries one — on the cone, tube, or box (the exact format varies by product). If you want to verify a specific batch, email the number to info@golechanaturals.com.
3. Does the packaging show a Golecha Naturals Pvt Ltd (or Golecha Herbals Unlimited) address? Every authentic Golecha product does. The exact address shown depends on the product and the market it’s sold in. To confirm the address on a specific product, email a photo of the packaging to info@golechanaturals.com or golecha1945@gmail.com and we’ll verify it for you, usually within 24 hours.

The visual cues

Authentic Golecha cones and tubes have:

• The Golecha Magic or Golecha Naturals logo on the packaging
• A batch or lot number printed on the cone, tube, or box (the exact format varies by product)
• A manufactured by line naming Golecha Naturals Pvt Ltd (or Golecha Herbals Unlimited), with a Golecha address that we can verify on request

If the logo is missing, the batch or lot number is missing, or the manufacturer name isn’t Golecha Naturals Pvt Ltd / Golecha Herbals Unlimited, the product is not authentic. The specific regulatory markings (best-before date, FSSAI number, country of origin, etc.) vary by product line and market — when in doubt, email a photo of the packaging to info@golechanaturals.com and we’ll confirm.

Known unauthorized sellers

Golecha Naturals Pvt Ltd is not affiliated with the following sellers, despite their use of the Golecha name:

• Golecha Henna World — operated by Vimal Jain, Shahdara, Delhi. Sells via indianhennacones.com. GST: 07AAQFG0551Q1ZV.
• Viubiz Impex LLP — incorporated 17 October 2024. Sells Golecha-branded cones and tubes on Alibaba with 1 year of trading history.

Why counterfeit product is dangerous

A counterfeit Golecha cone is unlikely to be the same formulation as the real thing. We have seen counterfeit cones contain:

• PPD (para-phenylenediamine) — the chemical responsible for chemical burns from “black henna”
• Ammonia — used to speed up stain development but causes skin irritation
• Synthetic dyes — produce unnatural colors
• Lead compounds — used to darken the stain

These ingredients are not used in authentic Golecha. If you see them in a “Golecha” product, it is counterfeit.

What to do if you’ve been sold a fake

1. Stop using the product. If you’ve had a skin reaction, seek medical attention.
2. Photograph everything. The product, any batch or lot number, the seller’s URL, your receipt, and any reaction on your skin.
3. Email us at info@golechanaturals.com with the photos and the seller’s name.
4. Report the seller to the platform where you bought it (Amazon, eBay, Alibaba, etc.). Every major e-commerce platform has an IP protection program.
5. Request a refund from the seller. Most platforms will side with the buyer in a counterfeit dispute.
